Alan is an actuary with a special interest in using big data to improve outcomes for society’s most vulnerable. As co-founder of actuarial and analytics consultancy Taylor Fry, he has worked extensively in the social sector across welfare, social housing, justice and community services for Commonwealth, state and New Zealand government departments.
In 2015, he was awarded Actuary of the Year by the Actuaries Institute for his contribution in developing the investment approach to public policy making.
Alan believes data has a critical role now and in the future towards understanding needs and achieving long-term benefits for people as well as businesses. Enabling organisations to explore the possibilities of their data, and ensuring that data is fit for purpose, he believes, will help provide a stronger foundation for creating innovative and effective solutions for our community.
